Facts About Union Square

Union Square is a historic intersection and surrounding neighborhood in Manhattan, New York City, located where Broadway and the former Bowery Road.

Union Square is not in Midtown. 23rd Street marks the northern border for Downtown.

The park is named for its location at the intersection—or union–of two major roads in New York City, Bloomingdale Road, and Bowery. This square has seen quite a bit over time; from commerce to entertainment to labor events and even some presidential Candidate speeches!

The best thing to do is visit these places:

  • Rubin Museum of Art.
  • Madison Square Park.
  • Go to the top of the Empire State Building.
  • Union Square Park.
  • Barn Joo.
  • Union Fare.
  • Maialino.
  • Casa Apicii.

The Union Square park was originally called “The Plaza” and then renamed to honor America’s first diplomat, Benjamin Franklin. The current namesakes date back all way from 1854 when it acquired its famous landmark structure -the cast iron fence designed by Samuel Havey which encloses an area big enough for both people to watch at dawn or sunbathe during hot summer days without being too crowded together.

14th Street–Union Square station

The Tenderloin is an area in downtown San Francisco, situated on the southern slope of Nob Hill. The neighborhood has developed as shops and offices replace farms that once thrived here due to its location near Union Square shopping district with many large department stores.

The space was originally named Union Place, but it had to be renamed after Gramercy Park owner Samuel Ruggles made an offer on the naming rights.

Metronome

Metronome is an interactive artwork that encourages visitors to explore their creative side. The installation, located at Union Square in New York City has become one of the most popular attractions for locals and tourists alike!

The New York City Subway line is a cornucopia of lines that come together at Union Square Station. This station, located in Lower Manhattan and 14th Street between Fourth Avenue has been called “the busiest intersection in North America.”

The iconic Union Station is a beautifully ornate station that opened in October of 1907 and was completed just over ten years later. This place was designed by renowned architect, Daniel Burnham.
